Nailah John is President of Rise Hairouna which was formed in December 2020, she is a social and political activist. She is a born Canadian of a Vincentian father and Ugandan mother, she moved to St. Vincent and the Grenadines at the age of five years old. Nailah possesses a dire passion for humanity and social justice . As a youth, she was a Brownie and then a Girl Guide in her teenage years. Nailah John is also President and Founder of Leave Out Violence in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (LOVNSVG). Leave Out Violence in St. Vincent and the Grenadines focuses and advocates on the issues of gender based violence against women and children. Nailah dedicates much of her work to the empowerment of women and children through avenues of education, awareness and advocacy. Her work includes lobbying to the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for the passing of bills into legislation and amendments to legislation for the protection of women and children.
Charles Sampson is Rise Hariouna’s Vice President in the diaspora and plays a vital role in the organization. Charles Sampson Jr , a proud Garifuna who hails from the parish of Charlotte in St.Vincent and the Grenadines. As a young man growing up in the constituency of south central windward Charles always played an active part in the political changes taking place in his country. He believed that choosing to serve as a police office at the age of 19 was important to his nation. Charles then left the police service in 2002 for a career in the Royal Navy, in the United Kingdom where he worked as a Marine Mechanical Engineer. During which time he kept an active interest in the political and social changes taking place in his beloved Hairouna, addressing issues of national concerns such as the Yugge Farrell incident among many others. Charles is proud to serve as Vice President of the organization Rise Hairouna and hopes to continue to serve his country in every way possible to bring about positive changes in the development of St.Vincent and the Grenadines.
Andrea Weekes is an Registered Nurse, an Activist, and a Montrealer, born and raised.As a mental health practitioner, Andrea believes in advocating for the rights of her patients as well as the everyday person who is unable to do so themselves. Andrea currently resides in Ontario, but in her free time when not keeping grounded with her yoga practice or travelling the world, you will find her volunteering her time with a few non profit organizations: Guelph Black Heritage Society (GBHS), Leave Out Violence in St Vincent & The Grenadines (LOVNSVG), and recently appointed secretary for Rise Hairouna (Diaspora Team).
Igal Adams is the Vice President of Rise Hairouna and lives in the Central Kingstown Constituency in St.Vincent. He is a baptized Seven Day Adventist and currently attends the Ottley Hall Seven Day Adventist Church. He is a Bible expositor, prophetic teacher and Bible worker. He is the Chairman of the New Democratic Party Group and the Chairman of the New Democratic Party Central Kingstown Constituency decision. Igal is passionate about his work and stands as a voice for those who are voiceless.
Ashantie Prince is the current Treasurer of Rise Hairouna in St.Vincent and the Grenadines. She is the office manager to parliamentarian Mr.Daniel.E.Cummings for the past year and is a past student of the Campden Park Secondary School. Ashantie has a background in handling finances and was the treasurer of the West Kingstown Young Democrats. She was also formerly employed at Merles Groceries as a shop assistant for thirteen years. Ashantie is selfless and reliable, she gets the job done with integrity and passion. In her free time she enjoys singing , reading and watching horror films. To her, her biggest achievement is giving birth to her fours kids whom she loves very dearly.
Je Anne Mishka Jones-Ellis was born in St. Vincent and the Grenadines and holds the position of Secretary to Rise Hairouna in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She is a qualified Assistant Teacher and is a Facilitator of the Youth Assistance Program (YAP) at the Marion House in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. She is passionate about helping others and stands on the principle of equal rights and justice for all.
